Some of the best milkshakes anywhere. Thick creamy chocolate served in a glass with the metal mixer can. The shake is topped with whipped cream and a thin chocolate wafer cookie. It's good in winter or summer. When I come in from out of town, it's a "must see" right up there with other great Chicago treasures like the Art Institute or the Magnificent Mile. The last real "meal" I had when I left Illinois and headed west was an Oberweis chocolate shake. The ice cream sundaes are pretty good too.

Not a big fan. The chocolate ice cream doesn't even taste like chocolate. I don't know if it's because the ice cream is too cold or the type they are using isn't flavored. The "drive-thru" service girl on Friday at 9:15pm was not friendly! I won't be returning.

The ice cream here is delicious! They have chess boards on the table which is terrific for entertaining the kids!

I always thought milk was just milk until I tried Oberweis. Although it's not organic certified, it is hormone and antibiotic free and oh so good and fresh. It really makes a noticable difference in my drinks and for the first time since I was a kid, I actually enjoy drinking milk by itself. Unless you live on a farm somewhere this is about as pure and wholesome milk as you'll ever find. Due to a growing toddler at home, I'm grown accustomed to drinking their whole milk but the 2% is excellent too. For obvious reasons, I don't recommend any variety of skim milk. The glass bottles are heavy and kinda awkward but it's what keeps the milk tasting so fresh. A small price to pay for the high quality. The ice cream here is made from the same excellent milk and IMO, best when ordered without the trimmings. I've tried the sundaes (apple crisp and warm brownie) and the waffle bowls, and while good they are a bit too sweet and muddle the pure flavor of the ice cream. My favorites are the cookie dough, mint chocolate chip, vanilla, and butter pecan. I've been to many Oberweis stores in Chicagoland but prefer the Glen Ellyn location. It's always bright and clean in there and the staff here is very courteous.

I liked their old location better than this. First time I came here I ordered a milkshake for dine-in w/ an extra cookie and they gave me my milkshake to go, so I informed the person who made my milkshake and they poured it in a glass for me but didn't give me straws or spoons. You shouldn't have to ask for either in my opinion.

Honestly, make your way to Tate's Ice Cream in Wheaton. I don't even work at Tate's and I would suggest that to someone. This is just overpriced, I am sorry!!!

Drive thru is brutally slow. Ice cream is always good but I could have churned it myself by the time we got our order.

Maybe I'm biased in my opinion because generally I love Oberweis. I know it's a chain ice cream shop but I have yet to go to one and have ice cream or a shake that didn't blow my mind. Came here today, got a regular cookie dough shake (my new fave). As usual, tasted amazing. Got it to go and it didn't even make it home. I tried to put it down in order to "savor it" but for some reason the straw was weirdly magnetized to my lips. Service is good here. They were quick, friendly and efficient as most other Oberweis.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE GOT 'TIL IT'S GONE! We moved away a year ago and wow, we miss Oberweis so much. Oberweis wins BEST ICE CREAM ANYWHERE on my list (mint chocolate chip, chocolate marshmallow, and expresso caramel chip are what I dream about) and Oberweis also wins for the best chocolate milk anywhere- I recommend that you put it in your coffee. We miss you, Oberweis!

This place was so yummy! I ordered 2 scoops and it ended up looking like 5. It was HUGE. Loved the strawberry and birthday cake flavors. Can't wait to try their vast selection of milkshakes!

My husband and I love this place and come here more then we would like to admit. I've never had anything that I haven't loved. Best vanilla malts, pumpkin shakes, and chocolate milk! It's definitely really expensive, which keeps me from giving them a full 5 stars, but if you want some of the best ice cream out there as a treat now and then it's totally worth it.

Went over here to catch up with a friend & I thought it was pricey for a large fudge brownie ice cream. It was a little Over $8 for 2 scoops of ice cream & extra $2 for a waffle bowl. It was nothing special... I'd rather go to cold stone ice cream..

Stood at the counter while the employees honestly just kept looking at us waiting to see if anyone then would help us. Finally we get our order in and it takes them 20 minutes to make three milkshakes. The place wasn't even busy nor was the drive through. If you're going to charge $6 for a milkshake at least get some good service. Not service that stands around and stares.

I wouldn't say there's easy access from Roosevelt, but there are two entrances. We've never had a problem at this location. Oberweis is definitely the best ice cream. There's a drive-thru here as well.

Really great ice cream. Tastes very FRESH! 18% butterfat and that makes a real difference. My favorite flavor is peanut butter & chocolate. However, don't miss the peach ice cream offered during summer months ... it tastes like juicy ripe peaches with cream. Outstanding. Oberweis makes fabulous, old-fashioned shakes and malts to order. If you have your dairy drink in the store, they'll serve it in a wonderful pedestal glass with a rolled wafer cookie that you can use as a straw if you like. You can pick up dairy items for home at this location including gallons of ice cream, butter, cheese, cottage cheese, milk, sour cream, and yogurt. You may also purchase ice cream cakes and pies. This location has a drive-thru, but this store is scheduled to move further west on Roosevelt Road sometime this fall and I don't know if drive-thru service will be available. Btw, Oberweis dairy farmers pledge not to use bovine growth hormone (rBGH). My only complaint about this location is that it is usually understaffed.

Two stars just because I love the Oberweis brand. The staff at this location however earns zero stars because they haven't any idea how to prepare their own product. I ordered a peppermint sundae as the photo on the menu looked delish, but the first employee made it wrong. I pointed out that the picture didn't show the sundae came with pecans, so another employee decided to remake it. But he didn't make it right either - he forgot the hot fudge. How hard is it to make a sundae when there is an actual picture of the it on the menu? We ordered 3 sundaes total, and not one was made as described on their own menu. Meanwhile, with the manager looking on, he couldn't bother to offer an apology or guidance to his staff. Poor experience over all.

"Um...How do I get there from the Jewel parking lot?" I'll admit it. I kinda suck at navigating the area since I'm not a local but my co-workers begged me to make an ice cream run for a little afternoon delight--oh yeah, I said it-- so I made an exception. Yeah, send the girl that never ventures past the two streets she knows, GREAT plan. Wound up, I drove right past it thanks to an enormous tree that was blocking every identifying mark of the building. (It's next to the Shell in case you're wondering.) The girl that answered the phone was SO sweet and I knew I'd picked the right place for the day. She explained in detail how to get back. When I went in, the guy that waited on me was just as friendly and nice as the girl on the phone. This is the exact kinda service that I want when I'm getting my sweet fix, so Oberweis Glen Ellyn nailed it! The ice cream, well it's always quality ingredients straight from the cow, so it's pretty pricey in comparison to other ice cream places--usually the price causes me to dock a star, but I'm giving an extra star for the A+ customer service. I had the flavor of the month Pumpkin and it had just the right amount of spice and was creamy and delicate. I'll put this spot on my to do list at least three more times this month!

One star off for the drive through. Totally narrow and difficult to maneuver through unless you are driving a smart car. Seriously, its that bad. Service in the drive through was evidently much nicer than if you are ordering at the counter. We were given our order very quickly, and offered some free samples to boot. The truth is you come here for the milkshakes which are thick, creamy and oh so good. I wont even tell you a flavor, because they are all THAT good. Bonus that you can get Oberweis milk in glass containers to take home at the same time. Then again, running out for "milk" and grabbing it in the drive thru could have serious ramifications for the waistline, especially if you are tempted to grab one of those seriously great shakes at the same time!

One of the creamiest chocolate malts I've ever had. And prices are very reasonable. Outstanding! And the chessboards on tables are a great touch.

Stopped in at 11:15 am after kids got the Swine Flu shots.......and the people working the counter did not look happy to see us. They finally decided to take our order, and we got our AWESOME ice cream --- so GOOD. We sat at the chess tables, ate our ice cream, and "played" chess. The place is clean (even the bathroom) and warm. Great spot to have a cone.....now if the employees were a bit more friendly...... 1 scoop vanilla 2.99 1 kid cone choc chip 1.99 1 scoop choc chip 2.99 1 scoop choc chip 2.99 Total - $11.86

I was driving down Roosevelt when I discovered Oberweis. I chose their holiday egg nog on their peanut and chocolate covered waffle cone. The egg nog ice cream was yummy. However, the waffle cone was too hard and tasted a little "off".
